created Program on Information and Resources at Columbia University
in 1994. PIR is an initiative to promote collaborative, long-term planning
that balances the needs of people, the environment and the economy.

The 7 offices of PIR were destroyed
by order of Columbia University administration on March 1, 2000 witnessed
by several members of PIR. The New York Supreme Court provided an injunction
on March 2,2000 forcing Columbia University to stop the destruction
of offices, materials, research and equipment.
